Come celebrate 51 years of an Old World Christmas in quaint Georgetown. For 51 years, Georgetown has been hosting this marvelous outdoor European-inspired Market featuring handcrafted gifts, horse-drawn wagon rides, free entertainment and admission, carolers, roasted chestnuts, appearances by St. Nicholas in his traditional robes, and the Santa Lucia Children’s Procession.

JANUARY
- January 7, 2012 – Geocache by Moonlight – Middle school and high school students grab your snowsuit and mittens as we venture out by moonlight to treasure hunt with our GPS devices. Meet at the Georgetown Library at 5pm. We will eat some grub that continue on our journey to discover hidden treasures already planted among us. Then we will split up into groups as we try to be the first to uncover the treasure (itunes gift cards) hidden by a librarian.
- January 12, 2012 – Mile High Cheapskates – The self proclaimed “Mile High Cheapskates” and co-owners of Milehighonthecheap.com, Laura Daily and Claire Walters visit the Idaho Springs Library at 11am on Saturday January 21st. The ladies will discuss ways to save money on everything from groceries to tickets to local sporting events. They will also provide tips on the “deal of day” websites, discuss ways to travel on a small budget and tell you where to find free or low cost classes. All attendees are entered into a drawing to win one of three $30 Safeway gift cards.

Professor Inga Calvin of CU returns to the Clear Creek Library District. At 5:30pm on Friday the 13th, Inga presents Maya writing at the Georgetown Library. Learn why the world will not end in 2012 and what the Maya writing means.

- Hamill House Museum officially opens on Memorial Day Weekend: tours are $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and students, children $12 and under are FREE. We also offer Children’s Tours with a prize and family tours (up to 10 family members) for $10. Walking tours are by reservation and are $10 which includes the Georgetown Walking Tour Booklet by William E. Wilson.

- June 4th – Free Lunch in the Park – will be held at Idaho Springs Citizens Park. This is a fundraiser for our local Santa Claus – Bill Lee, aka Red Tail of Laughing Valley Ranch. Bill was recently severely injured in an automobile accident and the funds raised from this event will go to help the family.
